Blindsided...

So, if you've not been able to find my blog, I'm terribly sorry. Apparently, I am an "infringer". I thought I was pretty good coming up with the Quilt Possible name. But it seems that any cleverness is overshadowed by my lack of originality. Alas, the name "Quilt Possible" was already taken--and licensed! Before we all get riled and bothered. The lovely lady was as sweet as could be, and if I'd come up with it first (and filed for the trademark), I'd want to defend it too.
So I'm struggling to come up with a new name for this blog and hopefully my store one day...Dave suggested one that was clever, but already taken as well.
So, I'm going to stick with this for right now.
If you have any clever ideas (that aren't already taken) please leave me a comment.
Thanks,
Lad

What I'm working on

I tend to stock pile lots of quilt tops waiting to be quilted, but now that I have my new machine, the quilting has become SO easy that I'm catching up. I'm bound and determined to have all 4 of my sister's kids a quilt for Christmas. My grandmother quilted (hand quilted, bless her heart) her whole life. She's 94 now and doesn't quilt anymore, so I have sort of picked up the torch. I'm just not about to start hand quilting. But here's what I've got going...

This is Moda fabric from a Tula Pink Nest layer cake. Love those bright colors with the white sashing to set them off. It's put on the back burner for quilting until I get the kids Christmas quilts done. This is a pattern I saw when I first started sewing. It's hard to see the fabric or pattern because the sun was SUPER bright. This is from another layer cake. It isn't a fabric I've seen very much, but it was called Panache. I think there is another design called Panache, and I've seen it a lot. This one isn't as common, I don't think. I need to add the border onto this one and then get it quilted. I'd like to find some more of this fabric to put double borders on it, but it isn't easy to come by.

My new toy!

I got this in the mail the other day and, oh my goodness, I LOVE IT!! I've been sewing on a 70's model Singer for so long now (12 years to be exact) and so this is like a Cadillac! I had to work the day I could go get, so my wonderful husband went and picked it up for me! I had to work that day and the next, so it sat on my kitchen table (AKA sewing table) for 2 whole weeks before I could use it! The 4th of July was in the middle of all that too, so our trip to Alabama slowed down the sewing also.
But I've been sewing and quilting on this new machine for several weeks now and I can't believe what a difference it is! I would whole-heartedly recommend this machine to anyone. It has the new accu-feed built in walking foot. This machine was made to quilt! And it is SO quiet. Used to, Dave had to turn up the TV if he was watching while I was sewing, but not anymore. No more loud machine for me!

The beginning of a good thing--I hope.

I'm such a fair weather blogger. I have the best of intentions, but then I fizzle out. However, I'm hoping to keep going strong. Since this blog will be more pictures than anything else, we'll see how it goes.
I started quilting...hmm...about 2 years ago, and I haven't stopped since. I absolutely love it! I can't think of anything better to relieve my stress or refill my tank than sitting down at my sewing machine with a brand new layer cake or jelly roll!
I've learned over the last two years that I'm a fabric snob. Don't get too offended yet--I just mean that I like the new trendy fabrics (Moda, Amy Butler, etc). I used to shop at the $1 table at Walmart (and still do on occasion), but I've decided that I put too much work into these quilts to put sub-quality fabric into them.
I live in Hot Springs, AR where there is a huge shortage of quilt fabric--but maybe I can remedy that in the next few years. I'd love to open my own quilting store here, but for now, I'll just have to pray about it and keep on being a nurse.
