About Me

I started my first quilt when I was a junior in high school.  My best friend wanted to learn to quilt and she enlisted my mother to teach us.  I ignorantly chose a very hard design and I still haven't finished it.  That quilt is just going to have to stay in the shoebox where it is stored for a little while longer.  I've always loved to sew, but if quilting was going to be that tedious and difficulty--it wasn't for me.

Between then and now, I met and married my wonderful husband, David.  He is a minister and we are part of a ministry team in Hot Springs, Arkansas where we are planting Jesus and a church called the Garage Church.  Dave works several jobs--planting the Garage Church, interim pastor at a local church in Hot Springs, and part time team member at Chick-Fil-A (my fav restaurant).

I am a former tax accountant turned RN.  I work as a renal nurse at a local hospital.  When I'm not working on our church plant or taking care of patients--I QUILT!

I began REALLY quilting two years ago while I was in nursing school.  I needed an outlet from the stress of school and signed up for a beginner class at my local Hattiesburg, Mississippi quilt shop.  I became friends with the owner of the store and her enthusiasm was contagious and her teaching wonderful!  She taught me about precise cutting, sewing techniques, starching and ironing and accurate piecing.  The end result was a quilt that taught me that quilting is possible for ME!  And I was hooked.  I've always enjoyed sewing, but I LOVE quilting!!
Unfortunately, I live in Hot Springs, where the fabric selection is seriously lacking!  I want to open my own quilt shop here at some point, but it will have to be in the future.  For now, I'll pray about it and ask God to work things out for me--and buy my fabric in Little Rock or online.
